Types of Security Systems

Home security systems are grouped differently depending on the use of the system and the technical features it offers. There are magnetic, electric circuit and motion detecting systems, infrared systems and wireless security systems. There are systems with security cameras, electric fences and guard dog perimeters. And there are systems that commumicate via household electric wires called the X10 security systems and those operated remotely via the Internet.

Some home alarm systems are defined by the type of alarm, although the alarm is just the last part of the full detection system which alerts neighbors, you or the police. Alarms can be silent or use loud speakers to squeal obnoxiously across a neighborhood. Some systems are identified by whether they are stationary or mobile, for example car alarms and personal alarm systems are considered mobile.
