Property Alarms

One of the main goals for protecting property is to do what the police and security industry calls "Target Hardening" - taking whatever means possible to make it difficult for criminals to break into your property.

This means developing an effective plan outside your home, too. One of the best ways to achieve this is by assessing the lighting requirements your property may have. Here's some tips:
  • Make certain outdoor lights are placed high enough so that burglars cannot simply unscrew the light bulbs.

  • Situate lights in opposite corners instead of central areas to eliminate any dark spots on your property.
  • Consider an outdoor strobe light that can be connected to a security alarm. When combined with an audible siren, this alarm can both scare away crooks and guide police to your property, and they usually cost less than $50.
  • Add motion detectors that monitor all entranceways so any approach from visiting friend to potential foe can be illuminated.
