Floor Plan

Do a sketch of your rooms and measure the distances your sensors will have to cover. With wireless security installations you will probably have sufficient signal strength within any house, however you need to ensure there aren't any signal obstacles or causes of interference. Even though wireless sensors use infrared light to detect an intruder, the sensor still has to signal the main console that an intrusion has occurred, or that the unit is malfunctioning, or the battery has lost sufficient charge. It will use microwave or RF signals to communicate with the console and/or a local siren in the house.

Because hardwired and wireless systems use the same type of devices (e.g., control panel, keypads, motion sensors, glassbreak sensors, door sensors, smoke or heat detectors, telephone dialers, sirens and lighting along with keychain panic/activation remote controls) we can treat wireless and hardwired security systems similarly for our discussion purposes.
