They come with portable receivers that allow you to be notified of a coming car no matter where you are on your property. Several unique driveway alarms use a buried metal probe which senses only metal objects passing by. It doesn't pick up animals or people crossing the path of the sensor. Wireless driveway alarms can transmit signals of up to 1000 feet or more.
